Tourism In India Grows By Over 24 Per Cent In 2010

Tourism Sector in India registered an impressive growth of more than 24 per cent last year. 

Domestic tourist visits also showed a growth of 10.7 per cent. According to an official press release the number of domestic tourist visits to the States and UTs during the year 2010 was 740 million as compared to 669 million in 2009. 

The number of foreign tourist visits during the year 2010 was 17.9 million as compared to 14.4 million in 2009. Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are among the top ten States where maximum number of foreign tourist visited.
