SC Questions About UP Cabinet Secy Appointment

The Supreme Court on 14th Nov questioned the appointment of Shashank Shekhar Singh as Cabinet Secretary in Uttar Pradesh government.

Questioning the appointment of Shashank Shekhar Singh, who is not an IAS officer the apex Court  said there have to be rules and regulations for such crucial postings.

A bench of the court said for the posts like that of cabinet secretary, there have to be proper procedures.

It made the remarks while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging Shashank Shekhar Singh 's appointment as UP Cabinet Secretary by the Mayawati government.

The petition his removal on the ground that he is not an officer belonging to the Indian Administrative Service.
