Salman Butt And Mohammad Asif Found Guilty In Spot Fixing Scam Posted on : Nov 16,2011
Pakistan cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif have been found guilty of their part in a "spot-fixing" scam. Former Pak cricket team captain Salman Butt and bowler Mohammad Asif had denied conspiracy to cheat and conspiracy to accept corrupt payments. But a jury at London's Crown Court found Salman Butt guilty of both charges and Mohammad Asif guilty of conspiring to cheat. The two players plotted to deliberately bowl no-balls during a Lord's Test match against England last summer. The International Cricket Council, ICC said on 1st oct night that the guilty verdicts in the spot-fixing case in England will have no impact on the length of the suspensions meted out to the two players at its own hearing in Doha early this year. Speaking at a press conference in Dubai, ICC chief Haroon Lorgat said that the verdict was a warning to players who might be tempted to engage in corrupt activity.
