Jansankhya Sthirata Kosh

The Health Ministry is implementing various schemes with a view to stabilize the population of the country by the year 2045. Talking to media, Mrs Dharitr Panda, Joint Secretary in the Ministry, said that Population stabilization Fund or Jansankhya Sthirata Kosh, JSK has been set up to create awareness among the people in those states where population growth is high.

The Jansankhya Sthirata Kosh has been set up with a corpus of 100 crore rupees and the interest accrued on the corpus is being utilized to carrry out the programmes for population stabilization. Mrs. Panda also said that schemes like Santushti and Prerna are also being impelmented in 7 states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh,Rajasthan ,Jharkahnd Chhattisgarh and Odisha. 

Under Prerna scheme, incentives are provided to those couples of BPL family who have broken the streotype of early marriage and early childbirth and helped change mindsets.

Mrs Panda also said that a toll free help line number has also been set up to provide counselling to the people on birth control and other issues.
