SRFTI And FTII Pune To Be Accorded Same Status

The Information and Broadcasting Minister Ms. Ambica Soni has said that, the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, SRFTI in Kolkata and the Film & Television Institute in Pune will be accorded the same status. 

Both the Institutes will be granted the status of Institute of National Importance. She also declared that, a law will soon be formulated for this purpose. She was addressing the convocation of the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, SRFTI in Kolkata. 

Ms. Ambika Soni said that Union Government will take appropriate steps to observe the completion of 100 years of Cinema in India in 2013. She said, a committee headed by noted film-maker Mr. Mrinal Sen would soon be constituted for the year-long. Ms. Soni also said that, the academic curriculum of SRFTI will be upgraded.

Speaking of occasion Minister of State of Information and Broadcasting Mr. C M Jatua said that, infrastructural facilities at SRFTI will be modernized with additional allocation of funds
