The climate change causes natural Catastrophy such as Tsunami, Cyclone and earth quake. President Pratibha Patil said this while visiting CERN - the world's largest and most reputed centres for scientific research.

Director General of CERN Rolf Heuer, while briefing Patil said that CERN is carrying out experiments in this area and high energy PHYSICISTS from India are contributing in this endeavour in a big way. The President said that she was deeply impressed with the research being conducted at CERN on particle physics which would help in defining laws of nature. The President said that India is collaborating with various research nations and looks forward to further expand its cooperation with CERN.

India is an Observer member-State to it in which about 200 Indian origin scientists are working. Around 10,000 scientists and engineers and 5,000 contractors from across the world are working in this laboratory towards unlocking the secrets of the universe. High-energy physicists from India, mainly from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, have been participating in experiments at CERN since 1970s.
