10 Lac Cases Disposed Off By Lok Adalats Since 2010

Over 10 lac cases have been disposed off by Lok Adalats across the country since 2010. This is part of the drive to reduce the pendency of cases in judiciary. Official sources said that shift courts disposed off over 12 lac cases and over 3 lac 50 thousands people were provided free legal aid in the same period. 

The Chief Justice of State High courts have also been requested to initiate a campaign mode approach towards clearing petty and long pending cases. According to law commission's recommendations senior citizens, women and marginalized communities have to be given priority while clearing such cases. 

The13th Finance Commission has provided a grant 5000 crores rupees to the states for improving the justice delivery system. 20 state governments have framed state litigation policy to fast track action in pending cases.
