Savita Devi To Be Conferred With National Tansen Award Posted on : Nov 30,2011
The Madhya Pradesh government's prestigious National Tansen Award for classical Indian music for year 2010-11 will be given to famous singer Sushri Savita Devi. The Tansen award will be given to her at Tansen Sangeet Samaroh in Gwalior on 9th December. The Tansen award includes an amount of two lac rupees and an honour plaque.
Daughter of renowned singer Siddheshwari Devi, Savita Devi was born at Varanasi and trained under guidance of her mother. Savita Devi has done deep practice (riyaz) in "purab ang gayaki" of Benaras Gharana apart from attaining excellence in thumri, dadra, kajri, chaiti and thappa. Savita Devi has also got guidance from Pandit Mani Prasad and Pandit Dilip Chandra Vedi. The singer Savita Devi will also perform at the Tansen award ceremony
