The British author, Julian Barnes has won this year’s Man Booker Prize, one of the most prestigious awards for writing in the English language. The Man Booker prize comes with a cheque of 80 thousand dollars. Julian Barnes’s novel, ‘Sense of an Ending’ is about a man facing upto his past. The judges said, the book had the makings of a classic of English literature.
Julian Barnes had been shortlisted three times previously for Man Booker Prize. Julian Barnes was earlier nominated for "Flaubert’s Parrot" in 1984, "England, England" in 1998 and "Arthur and George" in 2005. Addressing the audience after hearing the news, Julian Barnes said that he was 'as much relieved as I am delighted' after losing out in 1984, 1998 and 2005.
